KAN-WIN'S ADVOCACY
FOR JUSTICE
FOR "COMFORT WOMEN"
SURVIVORS

“Comfort women” was a euphemism for the hundreds of thousands of women across Asia who were forced into Japanese military sexual slavery in the years leading up to and during World War II. The survivors’ ongoing fight for justice is a fight against sexual violence everywhere.

Will you #Comesitwithher

In this short film, our survivor advocate, Min A Kim, tells her story of sitting as the human replica of the Statue of Peace, aka Sonyeosang, and joining the “comfort women” justice movement. We hope it inspires you to join us and #ComeSitWithHer.

who we are

KAN-WIN is a Chicago-based nonprofit that serves survivors and victims of domestic and sexual violence. Our “comfort women” advocacy is a core component of our mission to eradicate gender-based violence. We believe that only by addressing historical incidents of trauma can we fully build a world free of oppression.
